ShapingProgress Vision & Mission

The ShapingProgress team envisions individuals and communities worldwide working to end institutional ableism.

ShapingProgress, a partnership initiative, works with others to attain a common vision: that every community is inclusive and every institution is open and affirming; that the global man-made environment is accessible; that resources are distributed with justice and equity.

ShapingProgess currently provides tools to fight institutional ableism and supports people and organizations to make their communities inclusive, open, and affirming.

Testimonials:

"I will use [what I have learned] every day in all of my interactions."
- Participant

“Dr. Karen Hagrup’s two-day workshop on disability issues and disability studies felt like it was over too soon. Dr. Hagrup has the ability to explore complex issues in ways that are illuminating both to people new to the subject and those who have been working in this area for years. The power point presentation, the photo copied material, and the group activities were not only helpful in presenting key topics, but also sought participation from workshop members. Under her guidance we became a group examining this topic. This is a workshop that can, and has, changed lives.”
- Jerrold Hirsch, Professor of History, Truman State University
